Biography //

Liz Allen is a proud Wurundjeri, Dja Dja Wurrung Woman from Victoria, owner/Aboriginal Advisor at Liz Allen Consultancy and a passionate advocate for improving Aboriginal economic participation across the board.

With intimate cultural awareness of the complexities of working with Aboriginal communities - and over 20 years’ experience - she is available to help Government, Industry and Community engage with Aboriginal communities and work with Aboriginal businesses.

With extensive consulting experience, Liz specialises in identifying business solutions for Government, Industry and Community that increase Aboriginal economic development opportunities. These include:

  • Goulburn Murray Regional Prosperity and Productivity Plan

    Working with Kaiela Institute in Shepparton to implement the Goulburn Murray Regional Prosperity and Productivity Plan (GMRPPP) link:

    This focuses on strengthening and taking a whole of region approach to Yorta Yorta and First Nations economic opportunities across the region, which is led by Kaiela Institute’s strategic “think tank”.

  • Aboriginal business supplier development programs

    Liz works with First Nations businesses to support their start-up and growth of their businesses.

    Providing advice and guidance to a range of supports and resources available, this includes providing information on Indigenous Procurement Policies and how to capitalise on tendering opportunities. Liz provides a connection between First Nations businesses and buyers that wish to engage and purchase goods services or construction.

  • Traditional Owner engagement and economic development strategies, implementation plans and initiatives

    As a Victorian Traditional Owner, Liz has seen the growth of Traditional owner corporations whilst providing a core function of “Protecting Aboriginal cultural heritage” under the Aboriginal Heritage Act.

    Liz supports Traditional owner Corporations with the opportunities to engage in regional projects, as well as support their growth as an organisation to support their members and Aboriginal community in the region. Liz can provide workplace development planning support and targets commercial partnerships and agreements with various stakeholders.

  • Victorian Local Government report

    Liz has worked with various Local Governments in recent years and in particular Bendigo City Council, Loddon Shire, Mt Alexander and Central Goldfields. A feasibility study was conducted which informed a project to design and develop a ‘road map’ to best practise for Local Government to engage and incorporate and deliver on a 1% Aboriginal business procurement target.
